south of Jacksonville, 135 miles north of
Miami on Florida's East Coast, and 75
miles south of the Kennedy Space Center.

at 18.160. Homey, yet casually elegant - Vero
Beach and Indian River County attracts visi-
tors and residents, because of the cultural
wealth and inherent natural beauty of the
area. Vero Beach was rated the “Best Small
Town in Florida & 12th in the Nation” and
was named one of “The 100 Best Art Towns
in America”.

The Indian River Lagoon is passing through
Vero Beach, and representing a significant
portion of the Intra Coastal Waterway, it be-
comes a goldmine for boating and fishing, waterskiing and many other small craft water
activities. Sheltered from the open ocean, the Indian River area of Vero has a number of
public and private marinas, as well boat launch facilities.

Vero's main public beach is known as South Beach,
It is a very large, guarded beach, which is used for
all types of sport activities. There are two volleyball
courts and plenty of space for all the other. You will
find two open pavilions with barbeques. Another
public beach is Humiston Park, in Vero's Central
Beach Business District. Humiston is a guarded
beach, which is suitable for families with small chil-
dren. There is a huge facility for playing for the kids,
and nice boardwalks for parents to roam.
Jaycee Beach Park is guarded and has an adjacent
                                                                   boardwalk, extending southward approximately 2/3
of a mile along Ocean Drive. It has about 15 pavilions,
All with barbecues. It has a small playground for kids
and a long boardwalk, which is perfect for exercise.
Vero Beach also has numerous other public access
trails and walkways, permitting beach access. There
are two beaches, which are great for both, surfing
and skim boarding. It is Conn Beach, located just
south of Jaycee Beach, and Mulligan's, which is
located at the intersection. In addition to swimming, scuba diving, boating, fishing,
and other water sports, Indian River County's Parks offer countless opportunities for
recreation and enjoying nature and games. The five public golf courses allow for all
levels of play, and tennis facilities are
widely available. There is also a host of
museums, theaters, restaurants, night
spots, and shopping areas, and with it
you got the makings for an incredible
vacation.
